El concepto de humanización tiene una pluralidad de significados, hace referencia al abordaje integral del ser humano donde interactúan las dimensiones biológicas, psicológicas y conductuales mediante la búsqueda del bienestar propio y de los demás ante cualquier circunstancia. El término atención humanizada incluye seguridad del cuidado, trato cálido y justo, información oportuna, recursos humanos, cuidados individualizados y planificados, entre otros.
Por esa razón, humanizar el servicio se ha convertido en un reto casi misional del campo médico y de otras disciplinas como la enfermería, lo que para Clemencia Janeth Cuellar Nieto, docente del programa de Enfermería de Areandina seccional Pereira, “la humanización exige que participemos activamente en la creación de modelos de atención centrados en el paciente y su familia; nosotros debemos participar indiscutiblemente en la formación de un recurso humano de alto perfil para garantizar una atención segura, humanizada y cálida, basada en el respeto a la condición del usuario de los servicios de salud y de su familia, supliendo sus necesidades, superando sus expectativas para garantizar la dignidad del paciente como ser humano”.
En esa misma línea, el Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social en el marco de la construcción del Plan Nacional de Mejoramiento de la Calidad en Salud, viene desarrollando lineamientos para una Política Nacional de Humanización de los Servicios de Salud que pretende generar e impulsar un proceso de transformación de la cultura del sistema a partir del cambio de comportamiento de las personas en las instituciones en todos los niveles de atención.
Para la docente Cuellar, la premisa principal se basa en considerar al paciente como una persona que sufre. “Cuando se tiene un enfermo en casa se altera el ciclo vital y la dinámica familiar, con necesidades tanto físicas como espirituales y amerita que sea atendido en todas sus dimensiones. Él necesita ser amado, reconocido, escuchado, ayudado, sentirse útil e importante, ser respetado y protegido”.
Y agrega: “Merece que las personas que laboramos en el sector salud tengamos vocación de servicio y más allá de verlos como como un caso clínico, con un conjunto de síntomas y dolencias, debemos tratarlos como seres humanos de requieren de nuestra máxima atención, ayuda y apoyo, para sobrellevar el dolor y frustración que ocasiona la enfermedad”, comenta la académica.
Humanizar la salud se puede cumplir mediante la palabra, la mirada, el tacto, todo aquello que ofrezca un apoyo para el enfermo y a la familia. “Un apretón de manos, una sonrisa a tiempo, el efecto sanador de una mirada, la presencia humana es invaluable e insustituible, le hace bien al paciente y a los profesionales de la salud”, concluye la experta.
